About

The person behind the robot

I’ve spent eight years at Google, Apple and Amazon building two kinds of software: the kind customers use every day, and the kind that gives engineers their afternoons back. The second kind includes services that triage incidents before a human has finished their coffee, and tools for software automation.

I work across the stack, I like distributed systems, and I have a robot assistant called MoBot who is much better at small talk than I am.

Beyond work

When I’m not building software, I’m usually doing one of three things.

Triathlon. I finished two triathlons in 2026 and I’m now training for an Ironman. Saturdays are bike days, which MoBot will happily tell you about.

Pottery. There is something satisfying about making an object you can hold, especially after a week of making things that only exist on a screen.

Very abstract painting. Emphasis on “very”. If you can tell what it’s meant to be, I’ve probably done it wrong.
